Our House....The First Night

The lounge room which goes
through to the dining room
and guest bathroom/ powder
room. The windows look
out the front onto the road.

Another view of the
dining room. Powder
room is to the left of the
dining room.

View from front door.
Random area with
cupboards and stuff.
We're not putting any furniture
in here because it's the main
route to the kitchen.
Stairs at the left go up to the
roof area.

The kitchen which is a little
messy until all the cupboards
are wiped out so we can put
stuff in them. The fridges are
out of view to the left.

Master bedroom. It's very big and
looks rediculous without more
furniture. Will have to buy some.

Another view of master bedroom.
Dressing area is to the left where
the mirrors are. Ensuite is also
through that archway.

Ensuite. Hand basin is on the otherside of
the low partition. Lack of shower curtain
makes showers interesting. We will be
putting a curtain up to stop water covering
the entire ensuite. Also has a bidet...not
really our thing.

Main bathroom. Same deal as ensuite,
no shower curtain. Houses don't have
laudries here so washing machines
either go in the bathroom or
kitchen. Our washing machine is in the
bathroom just to the bottom right of
this photo.

This is the area near the kitchen and
that random sitting area that we will
use for a study. Might also put another
lounge suite in there.

Front door. Can see the colour of the house
now. Door way is still white but the rest of the
house is the yellow colour. It looks ok and at
least it's easy to find because all the rest of the
houses in the street at white.
carport is on the left.

View from the roof. There's heaps of space on
the roof for a BBQ and outdoor setting although
it will get pretty hot up there.
It will be quite nice at night though.

Another view from the roof. Can see the dome of
the Mosque that woke us up at 5am with the Call
to Prayer. It would be a good alarm clock if it
wasn't so early.

Here are some photos of our house which we moved into yesterday. We checked out of the hotel at lunchtime and took all our bags to the house. Rod stayed at the house to make sure all of our stuff was delivered. While Carrie was at work in the afternoon Rod was busy cleaning the house. We are a bit more fussy when it comes to cleaning than the Landlord was. Everything got delivered and set up ok. The washing machine was the last thing to be delivered which was at about 8pm. The satellite TV is switched on and working too. We learnt never to go to the Lulu Hypermarket (a big supermarket near home) on a Tuesday night. It was very busy, trolleys and people everywhere! We got to sleep on the hardest mattress ever made last night. It's like a brick and has no give at all. If we don't get use to it soon we will try find something else. Problem is they don't have Snooze over here. If we find something better we'll put the brick on the spare bed so everyone has something to look forward to when visiting us. We'll take some more photos on the weekend of the outside of the house and our suburb (called Al-Khuwair).
We're pretty happy with the house so far. It will be even better when we buy new curtains (the current ones are old and crappy) and get some more furniture to fill the study and other 2 bedrooms.

The house looks terrific - looks like the landlord did a good job cleaning and painting. All the rooms are a good size - should keep Rod busy doing the housework!! No carpets anywhere - we suppose you won't get cold feet in winter....
Will feel more like home now.

I hope your mum has finished testing now!!!!!! the house looks great. Looks very roomy and I like your furniture. What sort of noise does the mosuqe make that wakes you up???? Your views not bad either. That brick bed doesn't sound too good though.
Cheers Chris

Looks great. A little dark, but I guess that's because the curtains are drawn.
Have fun dusting those light fittings in the lounge room!!
Look forward to seeing it once you've personalised it a bit. :)

Hi Rodney, Hi Carrie

Your home looks great. Hope you are both settling in well. You had better turn the air con down to about -5 so that Dad can visit....either that or buy a big fridge. Haven't met you Carrie but hope the work is great for you and certainly a great experience for both of you.

Take care

Nice looking joint. Where's the 40" LCD and Home theatre system to blast out some John Williamson! Jamie Juery should do an 'Backyard Blitz' on the outdoor entertaining area. Kitchen needs a giant green frog on the bench to make it look really homely.

Hey hey sounds like you're having a good time. The house looks great who needs a BBQ. Not alot of garden to look at a bit plain on the eye.
Helen Graham and Melissa saw Billy Joel the other weekend just gone at Rod Laver arena. Faye and Anto have taken delivery of a new beast Nissan Navara- goes well. Faye will be parking it 3km out of town and walking in. Car parks not big enough for it.
